Popular online poker site, Americas Cardroom, has announced that 82 of its competitors have been sent to its Punta Cana Poker Classic.
Michael Harris from Americas Cardroom welcomed all their online qualifiers as well as many in-person sign-ups at a party that officially started on Friday, October 12, 2012.
The Punta Cana Poker Classic is entering its third year and will run from now until Thursday, October 18 offering competitors a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000. The event is taking place at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
Harris added that this is the third consecutive year that they are there for the Punta Cana Poker Classic and that it would appear as if this is definitely going to be their best year yet as the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Punta Cana is buzzing with energy.
Last year saw Demo Kiriopoulos being awarded $136,950 for finishing at the top. Americas Cardroom’s 82 online qualifiers is only a fraction of the hundreds of poker players that are expected to compete in this year’s $1,650 buy in event.
Each of the Americas Cardroom online qualifiers won prize packages that included accommodation for two for six nights, as much food, drink and alcohol as they can consume as well as airfare valued at up to $800, $1,500 resort credit, premium room service 24 hours a day, a welcome gift bag and ground transportation.
Online poker players were required to purchase expensive food and Alcohol during previous Caribbean tournaments but tournament players are now awarded with bracelets giving them access to unlimited food and drink around the clock.
