Sportingbet, which is based in the UK and Serbia’s state lottery operator, Drzana lutrija Srbije have entered into a deal in terms of which Sportingbet is offering its’ sports-betting services.
However, Serbia’s Association of Gambling Providers (AGP) are totally against the deal as they feel that the agreement violates Serbian law and have, in fact, attacked the State Lottery of Serbia for creating a partnership with a foreign company to enable it to host sports-betting services to Serbians.
Serbia’s Association of Gambling Providers is against the deal as they feel that existing laws are being violated and local companies are being pushed aside unfairly. The Association also feels that the fact that the State Lottery has chosen a foreign partner company whose reputation is questionable without offering public competition has resulted in it being impossible for local companies to participate.
The AGP is already extremely unhappy about a deal that was previously made between Drzavna Lutrija Srbine and online gaming software provider, Playetch in terms of which they will use their online poker and casino products.
The AGP is insisting that the Serbian officials urgently halt the illegal business on the internet and ensure equal treatment of all participants of the market.
The AGP added that they hope that the citizens of Serbia will be protected from the influence of foreign firms with questionable reputations and that equity will be protected failing which the domestic market will break down completely and only certain interest groups will benefit at the expense of all Serbian residents.
A press conference was held a few days ago by the AGP in order to discuss the matter.
