Playtech, one of the leading software and content providers to the online and land based gaming industry, has announced the appointment of Andrew Thomas who will act as a new Non-Executive Director and will also work as Chair of Playtech’s audit committee.
The company revealed that 69 year old Thomas has enjoyed a substantial career serving as a businessman and accountant and at present also serves as Chairman of Randalls Limited which is a family owned public house operator as well as of The Greenalls Group Pension Trustees Limited. Thomas, a Jersey resident, was also employed by JJB Sports and the Restaurant Group as a Non-Executive Director and also served on the boards of numerous other private and public companies.
Thomas is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales as well as with the Institute of Taxation.
Thomas’s appointment comes only days after Playtech announced that it intended cancelling its listing on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange in favor of the bourse’s Main Market.
Roger Withers, Chairman for Playtech, reported that he is thrilled that Thomas has decided to join Playtech’s board at this exciting time in the company’s development. He added that Thomas has substantial recent taxation and financial experience which he will be able to bring to the role of Chair of their audit committee, together with an excellent understanding of the public markets.
Playtech was established in 2000 and has since then established themselves as major players amongst software providers specializing in gaming systems.
