International Gaming Awards Nominations Close

The most prestigious honors that can be conferred on members of the land casino and online gambling industry are the International Gaming Awards (IGA).

Nominations for the 2012 International Gaming Awards were invited from the industry at the beginning of September and it was necessary for IGA to extend the last date for receiving the nominations due to the great response received. However, the various panels of judges are now starting their work as nominations for the awards have now closed.

Microgaming is amongst some of the familiar names included in the nominations for iGaming Software Supplier. Other names nominated in this category are CTXM, Chartwell, Playtech and Net Entertainment as well as several other unfamiliar names. Despite the fact that Playtech won the iGaming Software Supplier award last year, it is felt that Microgaming, due to its QuickFire platform,` will be a strong contender this year.

The Online Casino Operator Category is being represented by all the big European players. Nominations have been sent in by Bet365, Bwin.party, William Hill, 888 Casino, Bodog and Victor Chandler. Virgin Casino, however, seems to be the strong contender for the Online Casino Operator of the Year as it has been offering excellent promotions throughout the year and has added some innovative new games from a couple of software suppliers.

Shortly before the nominations closed, it was announced that The GREat Foundation, a United Kingdom based organization, has been appointed as a charitable beneficiary of the 2012 awards event.

The awards event will take place in London’s Sheraton Park Lane Hotel on 23rd January, 2012.
