According to statistics released by Bellerock Entertainment, one of the internet’s most flourishing online gambling groups, four times as many women played casino games in the UK during 2010 than during 2007 indicating that the number of women playing online casino games is practically as high as men.
Close to half of all UK online casino players are female despite the fact that playing casino games has always been seen as a male pursuit according to Bellerock’s claim.
Hitwase also carried out a survey that revealed that during 2011, 48.38 percent of online casino players were female compared to 51.62 male online players.
The main reason for the increase in the number of casino game players is the internet as online casinos are much more accessible to women wanting to play casino games. Women also feel a lot safer in the atmosphere provided by the internet. A large number of women are also drawn to the internet due to the fact that many online and bingo sites are becoming more female-oriented.
According to the latest British Gambling Preference Survey it has been found that although the number of women playing online casino games has increased, men alter their gaming activities more than what women do. Women definitely prefer playing such games as online bingo and slots while men prefer games such as roulette, poker and sports betting. Women are twice as likely to play online bingo as men.
A study also found that 54 percent of women in the US own a smartphone compared to 46 percent of men showing that women are more tech-savvy than men.
