Betway, one of the world’s leading betting and gaming companies, is pleased to reveal that it has enhanced its eSports activities by entering into a sponsorship deal with Sweden-based Ninjas in Pygamas, a leading eSports team.
In terms of the new agreement, Betway will become the first UK-based bookmaker to directly invest in an eSports team with a high six-figure agreement that includes content usage rights, on-shirt branding, onsite branding at the NiP gaming house as well as full access to players.
NiP was founded in 2000 and is currently one of the oldest and most popular player teams in the world, winning a number of major titles.
Betway was the first bookmaker to launch a dedicated eSports microsite last year and since then its eSports-specific trading and content teams has trebled.
Anthony Werkman, a spokesman for Betway, commented on the new deal by saying that they have put a special focus on their eSports offering over the past couple of years by launching the first eSports specific microsite and content channels. He went on to say that their agreement with NiP is another first and cements their position as an eSports bookmaker.
Viewership of eSports events has grown rapidly in the past few years, with the recent CO:GO Major Championship that was held in Columbus, Ohio generating 71 million video views that included over 45 million hours of live broadcast viewed.
The Betway Group is a global online gambling company that provides entertainment across a number of brands including Betway Sports, Betway Casino, Betway Vegas, Betway Bingo and Betway Poker.
